Buying a house -blog for us simple folks

This is not a financial strategy blog it is just a little help on buying a house.
Ok, first you need to know what you can afford go to your lender and get pre quaified. Keep in mind if they say you can get a $200,000 house it doesn't mean you should.
Ask about the payments + insurance and taxes and see if this looks like a figure you can pay each month. Also your utilities need to be considered.
Now sit down and think of your needs. Where do I want to live, where will my kid go to school .How many rooms must the new house have. How big of a yard and stuff like that. Bring your letter and an idea of what you are looking for to me and we can start looking. Get everything the loan officer will need asap you don't want to miss your dream house because your papers are not ready.
You will need a good earnest deposit with any offer, about $1000. It will be credited to you at closing or return if your offer is rejected. Sometimes if your offer is accepted and you later back out you may loose it. The are steps to take to keep this from happening.
Its good to have enough money in the bank to cover closing cost before you offer. Ask your lender how much will be needed. Link to my website there is a search at the top and tips on the side to help you find a house.
